We are calling upon all who love the ancestors, Creation, Mother Earth & her waters to support a Four-Day Ceremony taking place simultaneously on the north and south shores of the Straits of Mackinac–the Heart of Turtle Island. This ancestral-, heart- & spirit-driven movement was inspired by the people & their words during a Line 5 meeting hosted by Gnoozhekaaning (Bay Mills Indian Community) on July 1. Megwetth to our Gnoozhekaaning relatives for their leadership & bringing the people together to protect our ancestors & waters.
Protected under the American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978, this gathering will include sacred fires, daily ceremonies, feasts, teachings, and offerings made for the water, our ancestors, our people, and all of Creation.
Lodge building will take place Monday through Wednesday, September 29 – October 1, with sacred firelighting and the first sunrise ceremony on Thursday, October 2. The ceremony will continue through Sunday, October 5. For those who are able to stay, cleanup will take place Sunday, October 5 – Monday, October 6.
There are many ways to help—tending fires, preparing food, carrying wood, and simply being present in a good way. We are also inviting relatives to consider making a financial contribution to help cover food, firewood, and other ceremonial needs.
Chi Miigwech for your support in whatever way you are able to give or be present. Join us for a day or two or more.

This is not a protest. This is not a political gathering. This is ceremony.
